Directions to get to Hill Close Cottage

Hill Close Cottage Studio is situated in the beautiful, Dorset country-side, 4 miles from Shaftesbury. It can be approached from several directions.

From Shaftesbury, taking the A30, it is exactly 1 mile from the A30 at the turning opposite The Kings Arms Inn, East Stour Common. The pub offers a warm welcome from Ross and Teresa and the team, good service and the food is a delight. In our opinion it has one of the best menus in the area, and is very good value. It offers B&B and ample parking and has a large,fenced beer garden.

Carrying on to Hill Close Cottage you will pass, on your left, ancient Duncliffe Wood.There are pleasant walks along its meandering paths, it is especially lovely at bluebell time, a fragrant haze to delight the senses. The main path is of hardcore and suitable for pushchairs.

Continue to the Studio taking the double bend to the left. The Cottage is a few yards/metres on the right. It will be easily recognised by its low stone wall and hedge, housing a red post box at the garage end. Please park close to the garage, hedge or wall, allowing for traffic to pass.

Leaving Shaftesbury, on the Bimport road, turn at St. James' Church, down Foyle Hill following the signs to Stour Row, branching left at the grassy triangle and drive through the village, passing the Church on your left. Turn right at the signpost to East Stour. Hill Close Cottage is situated about 1/4 mile on the left, before the bend.

From Sturminster Newton: Take the B3092 towards Marnhull and East Stour. Continue until you get to the crossroads at East Stour. Turn right onto the A30 towards Shaftesbury. Continue up the hill until you come to the Kings Arms Inn on the left. Take an immediate right here towards Stour Row. Continue for exactly 1 mile, after a sharp left bend then right bend, Hill Close Cottage is the third cottage on the right.

From Gillingham: Take the B3092 towards East Stour. Continue until you get to the crossroads at East Stour. Turn left onto the A30 towards Shaftesbury. Continue up the hill until you come to the Kings Arms Inn on the left. Take an immediate right here towards Stour Row. Continue for exactly 1 mile, after a sharp left bend then right bend, Hill Close Cottage is the third cottage on the right.
